1892 Barder Dime Doubled Die Obverse / DDO + Cud?

Also, there seems to be Cud or something where the initial "B" on the neck is supposed to be. Any input would be appreciated. KurtS Pillar of the Community United States 5318 Posts	Posted 03/10/2008 7:57 pm I've seen this "shadow" on silver coins from the period, but it's not actual doubling. Like CC said. And just so ya know--a DDO wouldn't be doubled in the date, because I think the date was impressed into the working die after hubbing. That's true at least for IHCs for 1892, and perhaps for Barber dimes as well? Report this Post to the Staff

I am not certain which dating method was used on the Barbers. This is however a toning silhouette. I have seen it quite often on silver dollars. It makes you take a second glance though.
