Found this coin as I was looking through some change a while back. I have no idea what this error (if any) is. Thoughts please!

I'm interested in the mintmark. I don't have any info but that is a very odd D.
If it were a nickel from the 1950's people would be saying stuff like it's a D over S but in this case, the S is a proof die and that seems unlikely. Must be a damaged die but it is pretty neat.
Hope somebody chimes in with some solid info on this.
Rest in Peace

Hello again! If you're in reference to the 7 and MM, looks like Die Deterioration and shearing MD. Note the upper bar of 7, the shearing reduces the original size of digit. The D is wear on dies, starting of Grease Fill or chipping inside.

Thank you guys. Yes, I was referring to the mint mark D. It looked to me like it was stamped over something else. I'm learning as I go. Thanks again.

Yeah, it must be die wear on the mintmark. Maybe a couple of tiny chips?

It's a worn die and the post on the die that forms the inside of the D is partially broken.
