V nickels all the way! Simple and elegant--Lady Liberty and big Roman V. I also enjoy the unique history of the series. It both started and ended in contorversy--1883 No Cents and the 1913 mystery nickels.

I have to say I like the incuse indian on the $2.50 and $5.00 gold coins out of all the coins in my 7070 album, before I ever started this album I would have said Morgan dollars were my all time favorite and they still hold a place in my heart but that incuse indian just has a look all its own

Just a comment on folks posting the commems with
boats/ships on them...

I love those too!

I have considered even making a list of every US coin
with a ship on it, and making a collection.
Even just collecting every classic commem with a ship
would be challenging enough IMO.

Great stuff!
Thanks for the pics.

Buffalo nickels -- in part because I believe both obverse and reverse are so strong. Walker halves are a close second. You can probably guess what two series I collect.

Others that I don't collect but admire: Peace dollars, Standing Liberty quarters.

Designs I don't particularly care for: Franklin half dollars (particularly the obverse), Kennedy halves, Jefferson nickels.

What a tough question.

For me I would have to say silver eagles and the different stages of the large cents. About ten years ago the national coin show came to where I was living and a few family members took me down to it because it would most likely be the only time I saw something like it again in my life. I walked around in total amazement and fell in love with so many things that I had never seen before. About half way through the day I noticed that there were two booths that I kept walking past and finally decided to buy something. From the first booth I bought my first silver eagle and from the other one a 1847 large cent. I had a tough time the rest of the day not to reach in my bag and keep looking at them. As I look back now, I wish I had a lot more money and understanding for coins and bought everything I saw.

For me, nothing beats the Morgan dollar. I'd sell everything else to buy these beauties. I'm addicted.

I have resisted posting in this thread; being in the Classic US Coin Forum means choosing a favourite classic US coin design. Everyone (should) know that I am fond of the Eisenhower dollar, but it is a modern US coin.

I have reviewed my 7070 album several times now and have decided that these three coins make me smile the most: 1847 Large Cent, 1867 Two Cent, and 1881 Three Cent Nickel.

I'll let Prethen decide how to rank them.
Rest in Peace

My favorite classic coin design is the 3CN. The funny thing about this, is I have yet to own one.

Hands down the complete coin obverse & reverse. My avatar speaks for my choice. She walks off the coin and the eagle soars above with an ever watchful eye! Standing Liberty quarter
