Thanks everyone. I can't wait to get the pieces. Sadly it might be a while
I had to ship the coins to my uncle in Philly or pay 10% more in taxes. As a New Yorker, bidding at Stacks or Heritage is so disadvantageous compared to others... not only do you have to pay 20% on top of hammer but to add insult to injury, you have to pony up another 10% on top of that in taxes. RIDICULOUS! Anyway, back to the coins.
Paul - great piece (and very interesting)! I did some research on comparable sales and I can assure you that 350GBP is a good price for the piece, regardless of it being 1.5 or 2 thalers and the condition. An ugly holed and filled specimen sold for 380GPB in 2015, next lowest was a 2 thaler specimen in an XF details (Graffiti) holder that sold for 650, also in 2015. After that it's 1K and up.
I am quite surprised about this. Who's the auction house? That was a pretty bad mistake to make. Most auction houses have these kinds of provisions but they will do their best to make it right by you. I checked the weight specs of pieces sold and only 1 was 41.88g (the holed and filled piece); the rest run 42g-43g. What is the exact weight of your piece? To my eye it looks genuine; possibly some tooling marks on reverse (date side) but I am uncertain.
One thing I did notice was the "und" in your specimen has a doubling typo. I haven't seen this in any of the other pieces I've managed to find.

Here is another high grade example for reference. I wonder if it is a doubling similar to this specimen or just an engraving error?

when I asked them about the accuracy of their description they sent me an email with a disclaimer that was basically pointing that it's my duty to go and check the item before bidding!
