Getting Started Photographing Coins

enigmapaul New Member Canada 39 Posts	Posted 01/31/2018 11:31 am Hi Folks, I have never photographed coins before. However, I have two viable options: 1) I have a Canon EOS 70D DSLR. No macro lens, but I have been looking for an excuse to get one :-) 2) I have a USB microscope Aven 26700-300 ZipScope USB Digital Microscope with 2 Mega-Pixel 10x-50x Optical, 200x Digital Magnification. Has 8 white LEDs built-in. I should note that I have a lot of coins to photograph: many, many hundreds, so I'm looking for an efficient and fast workflow. I am wondering if there list a list of generally agreed best practices where I could start? Any recommendation on whether the DSLR or Microscope option might be better in terms of quality and/or time efficiency? Thanks! Report this Post to the Staff

Maybe obvious and maybe primitive, but when I'm doing a bunch of world coins, I sort them. All copper based alloys in one bunch, silver and nickel in another. Then by tone or color.
