tdziemia Pillar of the Community United States 7968 Posts	Posted 09/14/2018 4:22 pm The medal appears to be a medal commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Behringwerke, a pharmaceutical company in Marburg Germany, founded by Emil von Behring, who received the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his research on curing diptheria. I am wondering if this is a type from central or southeast Europe? (a Google image search turned up mostly brown baked goods ... I thought that was pretty funny). Report this Post to the Staff

The lack of identifying features on the obverse (side with woman's head) makes me think it is a token. However, Brazil issued coins in early 20th century with bust of Liberty facing right, and stars on front, no date or legends. Also, these were all in Cu-Ni, and yours looks like bronze. The bust also resembles the woman used on some early 20th c. Latvia coins, but I cannot find a match there, either. The search continues ...
