A catalogue for part of the collection of coins amassed by Richard Cyril Lockett to be precise. Which was sold through Glendinings auctioneers in London through thirteen sales over the years 1955-61! This is Part IV, English coins Part II, from October 1956, which covers a fair number of coins I'm interested in and includes one I own. Although that one sadly isn't illustrated. An ex library copy, so neatly bound. Plus it's been annotated with the names of the buyers and how much they paid, which makes it a valuable research tool for me. There are 47 varieties of this coin ranging from "relatively" common up to RR. These 'pillar dollars' did see circulation in the colonies prior to the mid-1800's, although this specimen from Bolivia would have had a long, arduous journey. Actual size= 41mm.
