I continue to focus on Morgan VAMs and have had some success lately. I posted some pics about 6 weeks ago of an 1878 8TF VAM 9 ... the first Morgan! Well, I picked up another one this week. , not quite as nice as the first, but a VAM 9 none the less.

For those who don't know, a reporter from the Philadelphia newspaper was on hand when they struck the first circulation Morgans on March 11, 1878. 303 pieces were struck, then the dies failed and had to be replaced. Two uncirculated pieces were presented to President Rutherford B. Hayes. Examination of these presentation pieces by Leroy Van Allen resulted in the discovery of the " VAM 9". To date less than two hundred are documented ... and I have two of those.

Finally got a chance to add pics

I got a Large Motto, Eaglefoot

After getting this I decided I want to make a "Civil war era" Collection.

I obviously can't get a 1864 3-cent silver because I don't have that kind of money, but I think my next purchase will be a 1861 3 cent silver because it's still in the Civil War Era except a lot cheaper. =)

But there's a coin show next month near me, so I'm saving up my money, so I can buy a lot and not pay shipping. Then I will post again telling you guys how my collection is going =)

~Sean~

P.S. sorry if this post doesn't make sense, I think I got a slight concussion today at my football game =/

here is my latest addition to my 7070 even though I am not sure it will stay there or not because the more I look at it I am not sure if I still agree that it is a low end AU coin or a high end XF coin even though it came out of a NGC slab

Got some Half Dimes pretty cheap. Two have problems but not that bad.

One has an area of raised/distorted metal on the reverse that looks like it was literally in a house fire. Never had a coin like this before. So that's really neat.

oops !........I.......uhhhhh......ya see........well.......ahem.....what I meant was.......ummmmm.......

I guess I just meant that I got a nice "batch" of coins for very little money Jbuck. Nothing in "high grades"....nothing expensive. Of course I know how you feel about your beloved Ike Dollar.......and to be honest that may be what prompted me to want to pick up a couple handfulls of them ! (your exictement over them kind of spread !)
For years, I've had them in Proof & Uncirculated "sets" & silvers......but not many regular ole' circulated Ikes......now I've accomplished that !......
