My most two recent purchases were the 2009 Silver Eagle and the tenth ounce 2008 Gold Eagle which I paid TOO much for (I thought it was a bargain at 114.00 but they added 30 bucks to ship it!). It was my first gold coin (real; not clad like the Presidential dollars) and now I am turned off a bit. I paid 14 bucks for the Silver Eagle graded. I don't buy coins usually but I decided it was time to start with some gold silver and maybe at least one platinum coin at some point. I am unknowledgable still about coins.

dahoov2.....
You are in the right place to learn about coins ! I think you got a good buy on the Silver Eagle.......really good. And that is a bit high for the 1/10 after shipping I guess.....but "shipping" is a part of the cost for a coin sadly when you order stuff ! Dahoov......you should maybe get some coin folders or albums and begin that way......this can be an inexpensive "start" to coin collecting.....(if you build them from circulation) And maybe investigate the phone book to see if there are any "coin shops" in your area. Go on the internet to see if there are some "coin auctions" within driving distance. Purchase a 2010 Redbook (since you're collecting Ultra Moderns too). I like to "see it before I buy it" if I can when purchasing any coins.... Doing certain things as you go along in "coin collecting" can increase your knowledge immensely, but being a member of CCF just might be the best "source" !

I just bought, from ebay, a roll of "unsearched 1930's Wheat Cents." I had nothing but holes in my Whitman folder for the 30's, so I bought it - only $2.76 plus shipping. Mostly 1935-39, a couple of s-mints, a couple of 1930 pennies worth maybe a buck each. And then, in the middle of the roll, an 1880 Indian Head! Full LIBERTY visible on the headband, nice shield on the reverse - I'm very roughly estimating it VF-XF. No pics - my camera isn't working. I guess they really were unsearched :-) Joe

Very nice find on the Indian Head cent. E-bay rolls usually over promise and under deliver, but not in this case!
