I found a 1943 Canadian quarter and 1966 American dime in change a few days ago - unfortunately, I can't remember where I put them now... and my desk is literally covered in un-sorted out coin stuff.
Rest in Peace

Today at the Bellaire Coin show and in the mail yesterday.
Why do dealers always take great delight in telling you they just sold exactly what you were looking for not two minutes ago...

I just bought this on the major auction site.
I vaguely recall hearing about these tokens, but never owned one. I think they are very scarce.
Let's just call this an EGO token. This guy was a mentor of mine, he sure knew an awful lot about coins and the minting process. Was definitely a pioneer in errors and varieties studies.
I was a member of PAK until it, as well as Adolf Weiss disappeared in the early 1980's.
I saw a lot of the very best Jefferson nickels ever minted at many a study sessions with him and other members at a kitchen table in White Haven PA, when he would come down from Montclair NJ to our monthly coin club meetings. We would stay up ALL NIGHT studying.

The "Full-Step" Jefferson nickel Club. PAK is an acronym consisting of the first initial of the first name of the three founders of the Club (i.e., Philip Petrillo Adolf Weiss, and Karl Nenninger).
I am not sure what happened to the other two founders, I am sure they are collectors if they are still around, but the cranky old timer Adolf may have been the only active founder/member shortly after the club formed. He was not an easy guy to get along with. He taught, taught well, but you better be paying attention.
This token will be part of my original main set that holds many nickels I acquired back then, and still have not been able to upgrade on those over all these years.

I do not know what those offset initials or letters at the bottom on one side are for. Does anyone else have one of these?

COINAHOLIC. I really like the 5 Peso Mexico 1948 silver up top. I like the effigy... Aztec? I'm gonna look into me getting one. It ties in nicely with my native themed collecting.

So, anyway, I recently made a Type Set of U.S. gold $1s. You can see how bullion investing can still be made interesting by getting junk grades(always chasing the elusive spot price!), but still getting something much more interesting than a modern round/bar.

This isn't mine but I paid for it so I guess I can post it here. And, yes, that's what the coin looks like, I haven't tweaked the photos at all, just cropped and pasted the two halves together.

How did you know it was a fake?(The dot after the V or the S is glued on?) How much do they sell for? Why would a dealer sell them?
