bought this beautiful Peace dollar recently from a non-collector in my neighborhood. he claims he found it, but I'm highly doubtful something this prestige would be floating in circulation. he asked 10 dollars for it. I'm very fond of the deal I made.

I picked up this interesting dime a couple days ago for around $11. Not a bad start for my Canadian types. Image: Canada-1892.jpg64.51 KB Image: Canada-1892-rev.jpg65.28 KB

Hi Mynt, Welcome to the forum! Great to see someone from Sweden joining us and do think you will find a tremendous amount of help when it comes to Canadian type coins right here on this forum.

Thanks, crystalk! I'm not a true Swede, only been in Sweden for 4 months. I just moved from California. Collecting here is very different though. It's been intriguing to see the differences. The coin market is pretty low-key, since it is a much smaller one. There are few coin shows and shops (unless you live in Stockholm), so collecting American coins has been more of a challenge. However, I am surprised at the amount of international coins that have made their way over here. Coin grading is also done on a much stricter scale, so you could say you get more bang for your buck... err, Kronor. Another interesting aspect of the coin market here is seeing 400-500 year old coins in abundance... not cheap, but interesting nonetheless.

Mynt, I collect coins from the region of 400 years ago types, I'm concentrating on Sweden, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Great Britain and France (1500-1700)
Have you seen any of them in the shops over there?
TKC!

I am hooked on the modern commemorative coins. I recently purchased:
1991-D World War 2 NGC MS70 1993-P Jefferson NGC MS70 1991-P Mount Rushmore MS70
they are great to look at.

Got a British 6 pence collection off of ebay for $3.80. Hey, it's all I can afford these days. But I think I got a heck of a deal. I got 37 coins in an old Whitman folder. 5 of them are 50% silver and one of them was a 1929 that someone stuck in the folder even though the start date on the album is 1937. Gonna try to save up and try to get some kind of album to put them in that will make them look better and protect them better. If I get time I will try to post some pics in my gallery this weekend. World coins have become a great resource for me right now. They are cheap and exciting all at the same time. The US coins just cost too much right now and people are going crazy with bidding, even on stuff you wouldn't have paid $5 on a few years ago. So, does this make me eligible for the Knights of the Coin Table? Or is that only Australian coins?

1942 is by birth year, so I pick up that date coins whenever I find them available. Yesterday I bought a 1942 Walking Liberty half, which I would judge to be fine to very fine. I didn't take time to look in the Red Book for a price, but paid $5 for it.

I picked it up,from an ebay seller in South Australia, here in Oz. I had just bought a couple of other items off him as well, he had a starting bid of 99c [from memory] and he added it in with the other purchases so there was no extra postage.

Got another Franklin yesterday from local shop. I actually had a few extra dollars leftover for a change after paying bills.
1952-D in about MS-63 for $15.00
Sorry, I know, should have had a pic. Am going to scan in my Whitman album page and will have it up in the gallery along with new scans of the Mercurys that Deb(dsking) so graciously gave me.

Yes, TKC. There are many coins from that era in shops here. In fact, I think some dealers specialize in those coins. I've seen some in really great condition... but, their prices are almost as amazing as the coins themselves.
