Why? Lincoln Memorial Cent / LMC "states Of" Always More Worn Than Rest Of Reverse?

CarlOmaha Valued Member United States 181 Posts	Posted 06/19/2019 8:38 pm I have noticed that many LMC's ('60s to '90s) have the "States of" area of the reverse more worn (very worn) than the rest of the reverse. Many times, the rest of the coin shows minimal / average wear. Any reason for it? Report this Post to the Staff

Greasy Fingers Pillar of the Community United States 7108 Posts	Posted 06/19/2019 10:53 pm I've noticed for the 1990's era cent, that area is often affected by a Grease Filled Die..Haven't really noticed it in the 60's era ( but now I'll be looking ) Report this Post to the Staff
Tanman2001 Pillar of the Community United States 4408 Posts	Posted 06/19/2019 10:56 pm Similar to why there is a weak spot on the side of the coin opposite to a Cud or major die break, most of the metal tries to fill up the space in Lincoln's bust so the side opposite (STATES OF) is weak.
