Half Penny Question - Coin Community Forum

Bowfin Valued Member United States 296 Posts	Posted 09/24/2008 6:00 pm I'm really starting to dig pre-decimal Aussie bronze coins. I picked up this half penny yesterday. At first I though it had been cleaned at some point in time, but wasn't sure. I thought by the manner that the dirt is accumulated around the lettering that through normal circulated use the rest of the coin was kept cleaner. What do you folks think? The fields inside the legends are cleaner from all the handling it received during it's time in circulation. If it was clean in the legends, then I'd say it had been cleaned, but my opinion is that it hasn't been cleaned. life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved Report this Post to the Staff
