What causes that 'scratch' (?) In pic 1? On several coins, some rim to rim, some shorter.

If #1 is raised above the field, I'd say a die scratch.

The other is a die crack or a plating crimp.

I'm wondering if it's due to a plating problem. Have you done the toothpick test? If you can depress the widest part of the line, near Lincoln's head, it may be a plating bubble.
