Rather it seems like a medal from 1965 that celebrated the 400th anniversary of the founding of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Give me a little while to figure out if it actually is gold. Added: ok well the good news is that they did make them in gold. Unless you find someone for which this year, country, or celebration holds some special meaning, I would imagine that it is only worth the gold spot price.
