interesting piece
I feel that the design is based on an American coin and is a more modern piece..perhaps a key fob or maybe a medal
there appears to be a broken off piece at the top where a loop once was perhaps

Yes, ironhorse, looks broken at top, but seems too small to be a medal. It's about 1/2 inch.

It's a watch fob, probably made in Nuremberg early 1900s
