Thoughts on this 1936 Wheat cent. The top bar of the E in "ONE" is slanted/clipped it doesn't look like PMD to me.   |

Thats a error and whatz nice is the sharpe angle displayed on top part of E

I'm seeing a hint of metal displacement--a slight NW-SE ridge at that point in the E. Perhaps another photo--closer in--taken at a slight angle is needed to better show what may be going on. Thanks.

I'm no Wheat cent error expert, but why couldn't this just be a diagonal circulation hit?   to the CCF! |

I'm in agreement with ijn1944 , the line that forms the anomaly is defined by a lighting highlight and immediately to the west is a dark shadow line. These two things indicate a preasure ridge from old post strike damage.

PMD - as stoneman said - differences in the colors of the metal show this.

I have a much used 1936 but my E is the same larger at the bottom and the top part of the E appear's
to be slashed as well but like I was saying mine is well worn to where can't be positive on that.

I agree with the PMD. May have happened early in the coins circulation and the features have smoothed out over the years - but seems like there is still some metal piled up on the E pointing to just damage. |
