Hello! I'm wondering if the indent on the top of both sides of this nickel is damage or an error? I thought it might possibly be an error because the indent looks pretty much the same on both sides, and it's in the same place.

There is no way that could happen during the striking of the coin so the only
alternative is that it is damage.

Note how the outside of the coin is not round. that tells us that it is a damaged coin. Spendable.
