to CCF. Banks get what they get, they can not make special orders, you could call a few banks and see if they happen to have any. Best bet is to buy them from the U.S. mint. John1

just about any bank I've ever been to has an over-abundance of dollar coins, cant get rid of them. sometimes they can tell you if they have loose ones on hand, or else you just get whatever are in the rolls and they don't know what each individual coin inside is.

Local banks often have small dollars, loose and rolls, and tellers would love to get rid of them. I'll take halves and large dollars but have no interest in SBAs or "golden" dollars. If you check different banks you should be able to get all you want.

As @John1 said, you can buy the newer P and D rolls directly from the U.S. Mint at a slight premium, plus postage. I believe it's $69 for 2 rolls, or 50 coins.

It's a great question, though. I am very rural and it is hard to get a bank to hand over any coins here - and I am a business customer! I have read some posts from folks claiming that they get rolls from nearby casinos. Hard to understand why Uncle Sam mint some coins meant for circulation and then doesn't distribute them well. Add that to the list of great unknowns....

You can blame it on the rain banks! The US Mint ("Uncle Sam") makes the coins, but they cannot just send them out. The Federal Reserve (the bank of Uncle Sam and all other commercial banks) has to order the coins from the Mint and they will only order coins it needs. This is driven by demand from... the banks! So if your bank does not have the coins you want, it is all on them. The Mint did its job.
