I do see evidence of corrosion, and sometimes that will leave raised areas on an IHC. Or it might be a die gouge. I don't think it's an overdate, because none have been documented other than the 1888/7. For 1901, about 550,000 coins were produced by each obverse die, so there would be others out there.
