As I recall, these were handed out to schoolkids in the province to commemorate the event. Value is ~$1; they are not rare, but they seem to be scarce as time goes on. Report this Post to the Staff
akglen Valued Member United States 170 Posts	Posted 03/01/2009 11:58 am Thanks, each of them had a piece of tape across them which a soak in acetone cleaned off. Now to figure out storage for these non coin items, doesn't seem right to just throw them into a bucket. Report this Post to the Staff
WpgLwr Pillar of the Community Canada 1082 Posts	Posted 03/02/2009 01:32 am I've picked up a lot of different medallions from here and there, and even some like yours that were given to me when I was in school. In fact, there seems to be a tradition of giving schoolkids medallions that commemorate some important event, eg 1927 60th Anniversary of Confederation, 1935 Silver Jubilee, 1937 Coronation, 1939 Royal Visit, 1967 100th Anniversary of Confederation, 1977 Silver Jubilee. And then there are the provincial ones, such as the Manitoba one you've shown. I just put 'em in 2x2's and give all medallions their own page in my coin album. Nothing wrong with that.
