I still have one box left. Also, I found a 1942 with no mint mark, but it is certainly a silver nickel without question. I can't find any info on this as an error.
So I am thinking that the 1942 missing date is actually a 1942-S which is one that I need.
Look at this and tell me what you think. I am comparing the supposed 1942-S to a worn 1943-S. Maybe the S on the 1942 was a weak strike or somehow was worn off in that spot over time?
Alright guys, this was the hunt of hunts so far! I finally found a 1938-S and a 1942-S which I needed for the original book. I now only need a 1939-D and a 1943-D
The buffalo run was insane, with 6 Buffalo nickels in this batch of 10,000 including the 1914-D and a 1921-S
So two semi-kay date Buffalos, a key date Jefferson, a tough silver Jefferson, and two semi-key date Jefferson. Just wow Wow WOW!
I've got another 10,000 coming Tuesday or Wednesday. Video will be up tomorrow. I have a nasty chest cold and am ready for bed!
Total time searching is estimated at 93.75 hours total so far. This does not include the time spent sorting them at the end of the hunt or video editing documenting the journey.
Currently at 155,000 with another 5,000 to go. These boxes are rough. Averaging 21.6 Jefferson's a box, no silver yet, and two dateless Buffalo nickels. I did find what I am sure will be a 1960 upgrade. Almost as good of condition as my 1950-D
