I've been looking up pictures that say DDOS OR DDRS and now a new one came into the picture as a spread. Too me it looks the same as a DD. Can I get more clarification on it please. I read an article but it talked mainly about the distance between the 2 sets, but even if it's close or apart isn't it still a DD? THANKS.

with a minor separation you might just see a hint of a second device with split serifs - with a major separation you will see 2 almost completely separate devices. (think of the 1955 DDO here)

I do not know if they are talking about Machine Doubling. It just talked about separation narrow or wide I'm guessing and made it sound different than a DD. So that confused me because I had not heard the term separation prior. So I guess I'm asking are they 2 different types of errors or varieties?
