It is a 1728 6 pence with the Obverse in AU condition and the Reverse (the side with the head) in VF condition. It is nice even wear and I am wondering what it should be worth. To grade british coins the side with the head is really important. SO I will say at a vf grade the site values at around $350.00 US. you can check out the site if you would like. Sounds like $5 is actually REALLY fantastic. :) http://www.tclayton.demon.co.uk/values/index.html be reminded though that British grading and US grading are different. greeniejim Valued Member Ireland 215 Posts	Posted 04/29/2009 5:45 pm The 1728 Sixpence is George II, this coin is listed in Spink #3706 variety which has Roses only in the angles on the Reverse, valued at F=£40, VF=£125 and EF=£400, these prices are in GBP, the other variety Spink #3707 which has Roses and Plumes in the Angles and is valued at F=£25 VF=£100 and EF=£325 so it sounds like you have the bargain of the month coin in your possession for $5. The oldest British coin I have is a large cartwheel penny from 1770's, but it's in terrible shape - AG3 to maybe even poor. I got it for $1 though, and it's nice to have!
