I went to a different coin store close to my work today. They have a bin with a 50% off all coins in it sign. I must have walked away with close to 20-25 coins, and only ended up spending around 30 dollars. I walked out with some Kennedy half dollars, Buffalo nickels, V nickels, and of course, wheat cents. I needed these two S dates, and the others, for the price, were nice upgrades. The top is not actually a 1927, but a 1925 philly. not sure why they marked it that. But hey, I'll take it. I think over time, where my budget allows, I will upgrade some coins like this. Why not. Other then this, I really haven't done too much!

Thanks, all! I went through around 15 dollars recently of cent rolls. Didn't find anything. I did, however, come across this stuff... This 1960 D large date has certainly seen better days.... Tons of super old Canadian cents! Pretty cool. I love the older, King george obverse cents. This all came out of one roll! That's all for now. This is a pay week, so I might be inclined to purchase a few new Lincoln cents for the album. I've been feeling the Buffalo/Liberty nickels recently though, so not sure yet.

Those upgraders from the 50s are stunning!!
Cool Canadian finds too. This is one of my favorite threads to keep up with - it's so fun to see your journey!

Thank you! I really appreciate it! I'm not trying to go bonkers with upgrading, because a lot of the older wheat cents in BU condition are quite expensive. The one's from the 50's, and probably even the 40's, are much more affordable.

If it makes you feel any better, I never bothered with upgrading. At this point I have had coins in albums for over 40 years, so they have sentimental value! How can I replace the penny I pulled from change in 1985 with a "nicer" one I bought today? I did solve the "I want better looking Ikes" problem by building a second, better looking set.

I found a 1911 Wheat cent in the front yard of the house a girl I liked lived at once, so yeah it's in the condition you'd expect for a coin that's been in the ground for a long time, but it's a gem to me so I can relate.

jbuck, I sort of have conflicting feelings about "upgrading coins." I sort of enjoy it, but if it's a coin I feel particularly memorable finding in coin roll hunting, I would probably keep it. Either way, I would much prefer a shiny, BU coin if I could. So... Coin roll hunting as taken a huge dive recently. I went to three of my credit union branches yesterday to only walk away with 10 dollars in cent rolls. Evidently, due to the production of cents being stopped or whatever is going on with them, people have started to hoard them and cent rolls are starting to get increasingly difficult to find. I was lucky enough though, surprisingly to find this 1953-S which I did not have. Score.
