1989 Penny Is It Double Die Or Centering Error?

I am just learning and you guys are all very kind in helping us newbies. This penny has a silver color showing on the inside of the rim along the words on the reverse. (My camera will not lift high enough for a pic of the whole coin, so I did what I could) Also, are the letters in UNUM doubled die? thank you in advance Report this Post to the Staff

Chase007 Pillar of the Community United States 7523 Posts	Posted 06/29/2025 10:45 am It has been a widely issue with plating on zinc core cents since inseption. The silverish spots you notice are result of split plating where the Zinc core has been exposed. Report this Post to the Staff
