Hello everyone,

I've come across a most certainly Doubled Die Obverse victoria half crown with strong doubling throughout and most can be seen with the naked eye. After a Google search looks like nothing comes up for a DDO or any kind of doubling visible on victoria half crowns in general.

Anyone else seen something like this before / knows of a reference book that would have it? Any idea about £££ value? Obvious American DDO's seem to go for crazy prices like the 1955 DDO penny so surely this is worth something?

I buy and sell coins quite a bit and so I've seen probably 2-300 jubilee half crowns over the past few years and I've actually seen two examples - the one I current have on the photos and one when I was just starting out so I had no clue what I was looking at or that it was of any interest; I didn't even know what a "variety" was. First encounter went pretty much like this: "Huh that's interesting" I thought as I proceeded to sell it on ebay for chum change.

Thanks for looking!

It seems to be a nice DDO. Cool find! This is the first example that I've seen. I've also never seen it referenced in a book.

Hey thanks! It would be nice to see a UK coin variety book though like the US has.

" Cherry Pickers' Guide to rare die varieties of United Kingdom coins 1706 - 1971" - or a name that wouldn't be immediately copyright struck :)
