cownas22 Pillar of the Community United States 1055 Posts	Posted 07/19/2009 2:09 pm basically all numismatic value has been lost due to it being holed and an ex-jewelery. Since it is gold. it still retains that value. Quarter Eagles have .12094 oz. of pure gold in them. with spot price at $937.00 (friday's closing price) I would say it is worth about $113.32 at melt. OH, didn't realize it has a mintage of 1,520! Since it has a hole and is damaged I would say it would bring well below market value of a problem free VG-8. BH1964 Bedrock of the Community United States 10982 Posts	Posted 07/19/2009 4:45 pm If it is a genuine 1865 1/4 Eagle then it's still valuable even with the hole. Make sure it is not an "S" mint coin. Since it was holed and used for jewelry, there's a chance the "S" has been removed/obscured. I picture would be worth a thousand words!
