Just found this one a few minutes ago. I am 98% sure it's a trail die. I checked traildies.com but it wasn't there. Must be a new one. It's on LIBE of Liberty, comments welcome. John1
1984 is a hard year to find trails, I found the first for that year after a year of looking for one. send that one in, it will make a good addition for that year. Congrats on a nice find.
It could be older die scratches that eventually flatten with continued use. The areas next to the devices is the last areas to eventually disappear. Usually die trails are at an angle from what I've seen.
If only coins could talk.... I don't agree because I have seen and have a trail die coin that the trail lines don't run in the same direction as the die scratches. My belief is the lines are made as the coin is being ejected. All trail lines I have seen run over the top of die scratches.
