Thanks again Terry!
I'm going to have to follow-up on these 4- 71P's probably with Mr. Wexler.
Regarding the 72, I have no idea if it's a proof planchet or not, as some things are way beyond my limited knowledge of coins.
I'm still trying to figure out what a 71D proof planchet looks like after reading about it in the Ike book. One would probably bite me on the nose and I still would have no idea what it was! (LOL)
Thanks for the heads-up, appreciated as usual!

I absolutely understand about the business strike proof planchet thing. I had never heard of such a thing and had no idea they existed. I was going through a bunch of Ike's I had picked up and one of the 71-D's just looked different extra shiny and incredibly clean fields and devices. It did not have any of the marks on it that actually look like tears in the metal to me. (Annealing marks I came to learn)But the finish did not look like the other 71-D's I had gotten out for comparison. Everything about it looked cleaner more like a proof finish. I could see die wear lines where the die had worn down to what I recollect was mid die state. Then I remembered about the accidental shipping of silver planchets and them getting into business production runs. I thought maybe they shipped out proof planchets that were not quite up to quality for proof production but could be used in the regular business production run. I also have found 72-D's struck on proof planchets Just another piece low hanging fruit Terry

Latest Ike find this week-end. My second 1972D DDO / DDR 001! This one is almost identical as far as stage to the one I found last week. Very hard to see any doubling on the Obverse, but the Reverse has lot's of doubling going on.. *I also picked up on the die dot outside of the O in OF that DR. Wiles (CONECA) attributed as a Die Marker for the coin* Both of my 1972 D Ike's have this die dot! * DIE MARKER- Dot on O of OF*

I was going over this 73S Brown Box Proof Ike and I noticed some nice doubling on the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" on the Obverse. On the Reverse, is this legit doubling on the 2 LL'S of DOLLAR and the R? Any idea as to what DDO/ and or DDR this 73s might be? I don't have a ARED book and not sure if its the 1973S-SP FS101. Has many features of it being this coin, but? Thanks for any help, Chuck.

Chuck, I am not sure sure about the 73 being a 101 I seem to have miss placed my ARED. It happened shortly after the Mrs. had the idea that my desk was messy and she would be a gem and clean it for me. She is a sweetheart. I am now in the progress of finding everything Did you post it on the other side of the Ike world ? Rob, Brian, Lee, Herb, Bill, Andy and the other guys would probably have a good idea about it. Congratulations on the 401 Nice looking coin

Thanks Terry.
Yep, I posted over on the Ike Group, to date, no reply.
Well, whatever it is, it sure looks like doubling to me on the Obv and Rev.

Ahh the smokin hot days of summer, It is even too hot to get out on the motorcycle today. So I was digging through some things. Looking for anything interesting to work on and ran across a couple of these. When Was the last time we have run across this book in unused condition? Wonder what grade it would go Terry

Terry,
You got a "CLASSIC BOOK" there, sure wish I could get my hands on one of them!
Been out of print for quite awhile and no longer available according to Dr Wiles site (CONECA)
It's probably worth more than some Classic Ikes! (LOL!)
