Latest bag find from 2- $100.00 bags earlier today:

1972P Type 2 " March" EDS and in MS grade (IMHO)!

This one, by far, is the best one of these Type 2's that I've found.

No die cracks between the TES of States on the Reverse and the die dot (pimple) under the N of IN on the Obverse is clear and very distinct.

Thanks Terry!

*Just found another 1972D/DDO / DDR a few minutes ago .

I'll post some pics later, too tired from running around with halfs today ( - lousy BTW, only 7- 40% Silver JFKS from 8 boxes!)

Do you have any of these 1972D DDO / DDR's in your collection?

The one's I've found all have that die dot on the left upper outside part of the O - in OF on the Reverse.

You can't miss it, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Chuck,
I found my shots of the 72 D DDO1 DDR1 but I am not seeing the die
marker that you mentioned in the "O" in of, Strange.
Not quite sure what to make of it. Maybe it is not a DDO1 DDR1 if
that die marker is consistent on all of that variety.
Maybe a different die state also. I have a 1971 S/S FS-501 that
does not have the two dimples above the first "1" in the date
or the die scratches between the "9" and the "7" in the date.
Here is a discussion that we had concerning it.
http://ikegroup.org/php3.0.2/phpBB/...1c047c78808b

I am going to have to either dig the coin out of storage or see if
I have more pictures of it on the storage drive.

Congrats,
Beautiful coin you got there!
Real nice split serifs on the Rev!

I got this figured out (I think? LOL)

All 3 of my coins are not the 1972D DDO-001/DDR001

They are all the 1972D- DDR-001 (CONECA) Stage D.

I went back to Dr Wiles Variety Vista site and to the 72D Doubled dies and sure enough, under the 72D DDR-001 he lists as Stage D the die chip by the O in OF and a die crack south from the eagle's right wing

All three of my coins have these markers.

Here are pics of the latest one I had found last night.

Thanks for posting your pics!

Chuck.

* Do you have any of these in your collection-1972D DDR-001?

Chuck,
My mistake I mis-read your post,
I thought you were asking me if I had a 72 D DDO1 DDR1
I have not found a DDR1 as of yet.

Great looking coin Dude According to the site quite a low population also BONUS

Great Pics

This was my mistake!- "Wrong attribution on my part!

I DID ask you if you had the DDO-01/DDR-01 because that's what I thought these 3 coins were.

Now I know they are the 72D DDR 001 NOT a 1972D DDO1/DDR1.

Thanks again for the help,

Chuck.

*Update on the possible 1973S SP-101 /possible CONECA 1973S DDO-3

Just sent 19 pics over to Dr Wiles for his review etc.

There are no 1973S Silver Proof DDR's listed on the Variety Vista site, just CN Proofs, so I'm hoping there is enough doubling on the reverse of this coin to make it as a DDO / DDR!

Will post results when received back from Dr. wiles.

Chuck.

Chuck,

Very Cool
I hope all goes well with Dr. Wiles
It has been a long time since a new discovery coin has
been found in the Eisenhower Series. What since October Maybe?
That's why I LIKE IKE
The most under studied coin series I have ever encountered.

I sold all 180 of my Ikes earlier this year on ebay :(
I didn't even keep one and it's probably one of my favorite coins too. Oh well...time to go back to hoarding them when I see them at the bank.

Chuck
Sorry to hear about the news from Dr. Wiles

Finally had some time this morning to sit down
and enjoy my 2 most recent acquisitions.
One I am wondering if one may be a
1971-D struck on a proof planchet.
It is highly reflective yet I can see some die wear
lines and no re-entry vehicle leading me to
to think that the die may be mid to late die state
Yet it has the reflectivity of a Proof.
When I get a little time I will try to photograph it.
tried once this morning and cant get the lighting right.
Same problem I have sometimes when shooting Proof coins.
And the 1974 S is Beautiful, it is going to replace the one in my
Dansco Album as soon as I get it photographed.

Terry
