I was at my FCU paying my car loan, and grabbed 5 bucks worth of cent rolls. As I started my search, I noticed that the cents ranged from 1974-1982. I don't have my loupe with me, so I can't see the fine print so to speak, However, there are some, actually quite a few 82's that even coppercoins would love to have. Great luster, some look like they haven't even been in circulation. So I wonder, was it someones searched collection, or is someone starting to roll their change from 30 years ago? If someone was looking for an 82 DD and knew what he/she was looking for, don't you think that he/she would have kept the really nice ones? I am hoping that if they were searched, I have better eyes
I'll take some pics tonight of the shiny ones!

cool! good find! I recently went through 3 boxes of cents and had to strongly resist the urge to hoard the coppers.

There is no way to know whether the coins were sitting around in a collection or not. There is no way to know if they were searched. I just found a fifty year old roll of BU nickels not long ago so I know this happens.

I always search through anything I find. Whoever had the coins before, even if they were a roll searcher may not be looking for the same things that we are looking for.

For example, Many years ago, I purchased a full bag of 1983 cents from a guy that was looking for the DDR. The guy never bothered to look at the obverses of the coins. I discovered a new DDO die variety in that bag and there were a few of the new die variety in the bag.

Have Fun,
Bill
