1952 Proof "superbird" Quarter

DylansDad Valued Member United States 476 Posts	Posted 09/11/2010 5:02 pm I attended my first coin show this morning and made my first variety cherrypick. I found a 1952 Proof Set that included a Superbird quarter. Here are some photos, I'd appreciate your grade opinions, as I'm evaluating whether it will be worth certifying prior to sale. IMHO it looks as good as some of the PF67's on Heritage, but definitely has a little haze that I will want to dip off before sending it in. Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 09/12/2010 2:15 pm I copied some images from Heritage and noted a common marker on this die. It is die scratches left of the arrows. See if this helps? Report this Post to the Staff
DylansDad Valued Member United States 476 Posts	Posted 09/12/2010 2:53 pm I've only got a 10X loupe, but I can't spot the die scratches on mine. Could that potentially make it an earlier die state? And frankly, the coin is too reflective to get a good feel for whether they are there or not. But as you can see the "S" is definitely there. Report this Post to the Staff

I have to take some doubled die images rotated to get the light just right to take an image. Glare is not a good thing, so try a different angle? Report this Post to the Staff
