1970 Small Dates, Common Except For S?

tershaffer Valued Member United States 232 Posts	Posted 01/10/2011 9:50 pm hi all, New at this and making a list of things to look for as I roll search my first box and was curious as to if the 1970S small date is the only uncommon 70 small date penny worth keeping. I googled it and only found the S mints. I'm assuming all others are common, but found a D (I beleive) so thought I would check.It also appears to have some grease die errors, wich I know are do not carry a premium, but again, trying to get a grasp on it all. If correct that will be the first ID I have gotten correct, lol. Report this Post to the Staff

I see a lot of the 1970 P & D mints and a few S large dates when searching rolls. But compared to other dates the '70's are less common in my searching. The only coin to look for in that year, is the 1970-S small date coin, which you can tell by many PUP'S I have found the one that shows the both ends of the 9 having pointed ends, is a FACT, a small date coin......Good luck.... So look closely before recycling this years cents. Have you ever noticed that having the coin image in the horizontal position, makes it easier to tell if it is a small date?
