mmorgan22 Pillar of the Community United States 570 Posts	Posted 07/14/2011 1:31 pm I think this is a Netherlands East Indie copper 1/2 cent KM# 306. This coin should weigh approximately 2.3 grams and have a diameter of 17mm. If it's 23mm in diameter then a 1 cent. If it's 31mm in diameter it's a 2-1/2 cent. Double check the diameter and make sure. It is worn, but I think I see the 1/2. Report this Post to the Staff

The "East Indies" was the more generic European term for the entire region of India and Southeast Asia. The "Netherlands East Indies" comprised, at the time, only the islands we now call "Indonesia". The Dutch ceded all their territories in "India proper" to the British in 1825.
