What do you guys think this would grade? Chance at a 65?
There are a few marks on the Liberty's neck, but other than that the obverse is nearly flawless.

A chance at 65?

Um, no. This coin doesn't have a "chance" at 65. It has a lock. This is what MS65 looks like. It has a "chance" at 66.

I have to agree its far better than 65.. which locks it in as MS 65..I think it could go MS66 with a chance of MS67..Very sweet coin...nose hit I am wondering about as a die thing, not PMD but the REV cut in the tail feathers is about the worst thing I see and the REV is like 5/10 % of the coins grade...By they way I would offer 2 times melt LOL as its in such poor shape...

MS-66

EDIT: On second thought I think the one hit on the tail feathers would limit this one to MS-65. Most of the 66's I have reviewed look pristine no marks visible to naked eye.

I don't usually grade Peace dollars but this one looks really nice and I agree with the 65 and may have a possible chance of 66 but there is no way in my opinion it would ever get a 67. I have some 67 and 68 Morgans in my collection and the few marks it does have would definitely keep it from going anything above 66. I really think if you get it graded it will come back MS-65 and it would be a real nice MS-65 that would definitely get a CAC sticker if sent to them, and may get a Gold bean from them

I would say MS-65 would be a conservative grade on this one.....What a beautiful coin! unfortunately those tiny little scratches/dings will probably keep it from anything higher than at best an MS-66 but WOW!! I would be proud to add it to my collection anytime! Congrats on the acquisition!

Just received the coin today, but I won't be sending it out for grading. It looks like someone had wiped the obverse of the coin at one point or another. (You coin only see the hairline scratches, under a good light source. Other than that the coin looks fine)

I am not sure if this is good news or bad news now, but the coin definitely would have graded at least a 65, with a very very good shot at a 66.

What do you think a 1935 MS-65/66 Details Peace dollar is worth?

since you say you just received it, I am guessing you purchased it from someone and if its not the coin you thought (example being cleaned/wiped) I would just send it back. The details grade would kill the value of this coin and only ANACS would ever label it with a specific grade but I don't think they would give it a 65 details. I have never seen anything with a details grade that high because that grade means it is choice and any problem will keep it from that grade
