After going through $1500 of halves last weekend and only finding a 1971S I was pretty down. The only thing I found was a 40% half that came from the teller, not out of the boxes.

Well this week turned out a little better. I decided to stop by a few banks other than my normal bank where I'm a customer. I went into one and asked for halves. She put two old paper rolls on the desk and I got excited. As she was doing so, one teller leaned her head over the wall and said "Your not selling that roll are you?" "No!" my teller said. I knew then that I wouldn't find anything in my rolls. At least now I know not to waste my time at that bank.

I went into another bank and they only had about 10 halves. As she was giving them to me, she said "There's a silver one!" sure enough a 1964.

The third bank I went to she asked how many halves I wanted. I asked how many she had. She said she could buy them from the vault. She kind of snickered and said "We've got plenty." I got $100 and found 3 40%. They were all in hand wrapped rolls. I know where I'll be going from now on!

Later this week, after reading my post about taking my daughter to a coins show, a very gracious member of this forum, mailed my daughter a box of 20 or 30 very nice coins and tokens. I did my best to keep my hands off of them and I didn't steal a single one!!!

I found a new penny smashing machine downtown and got three new smashed pennies.

Last night, my mom was visiting and she dropped wad of $1 on the table. I picked them up and went through them and came across a $1 silver cert! She let me have it!

It turned out to be a pretty fun week!!!

Congrats!

I had luck at first but have not had much here lately. My best find was one teller who said, " I have some old silver certificates if you want them." I was shocked to get 5 1935's in circulated but nice condition.

Good luck in your search!

Oh - I forgot - I also won a 1949 CDA $1 and I recevied it this week. It looks very nice and a I got it at a decent price. I'm very excited about it - its the last of the 'old' $1 commems that I need. Now I've got the 1935, 1939, 1949, 1958, 1964, and 1967.

I also 'found' a CDA 1967 dime in my box of 'doubles' that I thought I needed. I know for sure that I need to double check my box of doubles to see if there are any 'singles' that I need!
