Biedercoins Pillar of the Community United States 1606 Posts	Posted 02/25/2017 06:11 am I don't often see woodie nickels, so that's kind of cool. From a distance the "struck through" looks like damage since the rim is involved. Up close, though, one can see the graduated appearance of a Greaser. Good find! Report this Post to the Staff
coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 02/25/2017 07:05 am I think this is a lamination issue. Note how the affected area is in a straight line. Laminations were also common on the silver nickels as well. Just that one area appears to be affected. (like a lamination could look like) Report this Post to the Staff
Potbellypub Pillar of the Community United States 900 Posts	Posted 02/25/2017 08:57 am Coop thanks for looking .. are you talking about the area I thought was grease filled or do you mean the whole coin could be lamination ? Are the pictures sufficient if not what kind of pictures can I get that would help you determine which it is? I found anther War Nickel this week and posted it , it had lamination but didn't have the toning this one does but the lamination that peeled did have the same appearance as this. Again thank you . coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 02/25/2017 10:55 am A lamination line just on the area affected is from Right side of the buildings rim to the 'US' on PLURIBUS. Note a line on that area that looks straight to the rims. The rim has peel off a bit in some area. If this were a grease error, the rim would remain in tact, but it is not there.
