Nice, John! I think they sell for a couple of bucks on ebay. I want to find one of these, but I haven't had the luck yet.

to the forum!

Nice to find so early in your searches.

Quote:
Blank - A disk of metal after it has been punched from a sheet of flat metal. After the blank is milled to form the edge it is referred to as a planchet. Many collectors today do not understand the difference between the two and will sometimes even refer to something as a "blank planchet".

I didn't know the difference, but this is a blank planchet, right?

I have a couple with no edge, so they are just blanks?

Always cool when you find one! Found my first in a mixed lot of foreign coins and tokens of all places, doesn't seem to happen that often in circulation...someone tossed in Grandpa's old collections or Grandma's old coin jar, Really neat find!

to the forum great find! Yes, blank planchet-it has the Proto rim from the upset process. If it didn't have the proto rim then it's just a blank

Yours is a type 'B' that is plated. Just one step from being a coin.
