Die chips on the devices. They are common during the 1950's as they over used the dies past normal retirement usage. So you can find things/event that happened to dies that normally doesn't happen on other years.

Correct. Dies break down with continued use after normal retirement.

Looks like a die clash by the date also. The die chip between B & E makes it a BIE.
