I Picked this up yesterday. While the coin looks beautiful, after I took some pics I had to wonder if this was artificially done.   Sorry about angle of pics. Had to experiment to get toning to show with my lighting. What do you think. AT or NT? Edited by MontCollector

Natural - at least I've seen naturally toned Morgan's that look like this...

took pics straight on.   While the coin doesn't present this color in natural light. In this lighting it looks like it spent some time directly in a fire. BTW since it hasn't been graded what do you think AU or VF? Edited by MontCollector

It looks like album toning to me. I think the rub on the coin is from long term storage not circulation.

No question natural tone. It's exactly the way Morgan's will tone if they spent a bit of time in one of the older folders.

Natural toning, but it's not the kind color for which some people pay stupid money. I don't have anything aginst attractive toning, but some of those prices are just too much. To me there is not an Oregon commemorative half dollar on the planet that is worth $50,000.  |
