My Scratched 1921-S Walking Liberty Half

MrRick Valued Member United States 122 Posts	Posted 12/17/2008 5:52 pm Hi. Pictured is my 21S WL with scatches on the Obverse that make me want to jump off a cliff (you coulda been a contender!). I know the condition's not great to begin with, but what do you normally deduct from a coins grade when it has a scratch in the face. I know it depends on the depth & size of it, but use this as an example. Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

In this case I would expect to pay 25-30% under the FMV for a g-4. I believe that (though it's hard to assess every coin on its own merits), there's no single formula for netting a grade down or up. "Details" and "*" (stars) don't really provide a consistent enough rationale to apply equally to all coins. Report this Post to the Staff
