No. They are common on polished dies. They are evidence that the dies fields were polished. They don't add a premium and when graded they can/may not affect the grade. What they do to a collector is either make a sale (when confirming a variety) or break a sale if they feel it is a distraction. Some like the look of no die scratches (which are seen on earlier die states) or don't care. Depends on the collector. Me, well you can probably guess which type I like.
Common to find:

They are the one I am drawn to. (Not that I collect them, I just enjoy seeing them more)

Thanks so much for your input. When you have a confirmed variety, does the coin also get a DDO or DDR rating?

DDO-Doubled die Obverse
DDR-Doubled die Reverse
These are for doubled dies. There are other things that Identify a variety. Classes 1-9. Strength of spread. On coppercoins, the list a * (star) rating for strength on their site. (1-5 stars)
