That wear off to the orignal color show that there is a coating on the coin. If there was not silver color coming back, then it wouldn't be a environmental issue with the coin. As mentioned it is a spender. When the coin was first found the color was a dark brown. In circulation it will turn black, then the upper parts of the devices will start the march back to gray and the fields turn last: Eventually the coin will look like this. That is the life of a coin that becomes homeless and then found again. Some like the look. But they go through a lot of ugly to get back to looking normal again. Report this Post to the Staff
