1883 Indian Cent Misplaced Date MPD Snow-8 Variety

mmorgan22 Pillar of the Community United States 570 Posts	Posted 10/05/2011 8:52 pm I just wanted to make sure that this is FS-01-1883-401 Snow-8. It's on page 61 on the 5th ed. CherryPickers' Guide. DVCollector Bedrock of the Community United States 10045 Posts	Posted 10/10/2011 2:44 pm The type of verdigris on the reverse looks like copper chloride, and it "burrows" deeper into the coin. Some call it "bronze disease". It looks a lot like what you see on brass fittings on seafaring ships, and it's impossible to remove (without tooling damage); all you can hope for is to stabilize it. I was really hoping NCS could conserve it, because I thought it would get a pretty decent grade even though just a details grade. I will just sell it as a raw coin then. I'm trying to save up for a ring. Cherrypickers values it at $100 EF, $200 AU, and $350 MS-60. Coin looks UNC to me (only looking at PCGS Photograde), but the spot would bring it down price wise.
