Quote: I like that the premium is under ASEs. Only if you compare the bullion pucks to the uncirc or proof ASEs, the bullion ASE premium is under the pucks last time I checked but may have changed. The premium for the P pucks is the highest the mint has for a silver product.

I hope for all of our sakes that Argentum (Ag) goes back up in value some day! :) In the mean time I will continue buying pucks at the lower cost to try and make up for all of the ones I bought at the higher cost. Hope I am doing the right thing. Anyways they sure are fun to look at.

It all depends on your time horizon. If you wait long enough it will eventually be worth more. I hope!
All joking aside, I am taking the same approach. Happily stacking more silver while the prices are down a bit and looking at it as a sale.

Very nice, I really like the way they look on a 3 inch canvas. I should have mine next week.

Quote: Just got my Chaco Culture bullion puck in the mail: This picture makes me so torn on the set. I hate how the mint has handled them and had decided I was done with them then you go and post this. This design fell short on the quarter to me, but this is what I love about the pucks. In the puck form the design is just stunning and I love it.

Hard choice, ain't it, basebal21? I know there are alot of naysayers on the pucks, whom I guess who have never seen a full set of coins (at least all of the released pucks up til now). They are hooked when I whip out my 2010/2011 bullion sets and soon I'll figure out a way to display the uncirculated set right alongside, too. Generally they are amazed that the premium is lower per oz. relative to the bullion ASE. I'm thinking the 2012 bullion will end up under the mintage of the uncirculated, particularly the Volcanoes and Denali releases, as their minting window will be under 4 and 3 months, respectively. As unpopular as they are, the Mint won't try to foist these on the APs this year like they have been doing with the 2011s. barryg: nice coin! Looks like you got an exceptionally clean one. It's why I go with Provident each time.

I love the pucks themselves just hate the premiums and all the other problems the mint has been creating with them. Ive never really been a fan of collector type bullion coins just in case silver does go back down again a 30 dollar puck would be a hard pill to swallow but I have a hard time paying 70-80 over melt as well unless the mint just comes out and says 205 is as cheap as the pucks will ever be no matter what. IF the bullion ones get under 100 though Ill pick up everything I'm missing. Decisions decisions

I know. I've held off since spot has too much a spread from the 205 right now. It was a good deal in relation to spot in the beginning of the year!

Yeah, that looks much better in the 3" format. Guess I'll have to go ahead and pull the trigger now...

Wondering out loud, IF the mint stops 5 oz America the Beautiful production, will they stop production of the collector, bullion, or both versions?
Believe the argument can be made for either being discontinued or both.
I have only been collecting the collector version.....because, it IS the collector version.

Im pretty positive the bullion version is the one congress passed in the law so the P would be first to go. Congress would have to kill the other one but considering the deficit if the mint said its losing money on it (dont even know if thats true or not) it probably wouldnt be to hard to have it killed. I wouldnt be surprised if the P ended this year, the sales have been miserable at best

Not to beat a dead horse or cross topics but if the mint is losing money (and yeah, I don't know if that's true either), it's because of the billions of cents and nickels they continue to churn out.
Ok, I realize I did both beat a dead horse and cross topics. Sorry.
I agree with basebal21 though. Collector version would be the first to go; bullion pucks would take an act of Congress to cancel.

I agree with basebal21, I was undecided on the 5 oz. coins but they do look so nice. I am going to have to start buyinig them. I do think I will stick with the bullion version though, the premium is just too much on the "collector" version.

NOT saying I am right, the downside of the bullion version is....because the value is tied to the precious metal market.
NOT saying the collector version is all that, but, collectors will always be collecting. PM buyers float in and out with the price of PM's.
