It is definitely the box, and as an added bonus, it will come with a long delay.

it's hard not to be cynical given the mint's recent track record. This is the same reason I don't trust the mint's grading and was not willing to pay the extra money for premium.

I'm going out on a limb here, and hoping for delivery in the first quarter of 2013.

@CC-Ottawa Thanks for clarifying. I read the $5 numbers for $10.

Lets try to clarify...if there are 140, 6 coin sets, than that means that there are a extra 140 of each coin to be added to the final number on each of the $5 and $10 premium selected numbers
$5 1912 PHS = 62 + 140= 202 Premium Hand Select
$5 1913 PHS = 45 + 140= 185 Premium Hand Select
$5 1914 PHS = 121+ 140= 261 Premium Hand Select and so on for the $10 Premium Hand Select.

Nowhere does it say that the 6 coin set coins are better than the the premium select coins. They are the same! The Premium Select coins purchased in the 6 coin set are the same as the single Premium select coins!
Please let me know what any of your thoughts are on my comments!

It does say on the mint website that the set of six coins "include the very best in the entire collection." The mint calls them the "rarest of the rare" so I'd say that that seems to me that they are one step up on the individual premium hand-selected.

I would have to disagree. They call the 6 coin Set a Premium select set.
It doesn't say that the 6 Coins are the best coins chosen from all the Premium select Coins it just says some of the very best of all coins. Lets face it,with the low numbers being reported for the premium selected coins, on a percentage basis, they are the best of the best.
I think the Mint would have picked a different name and category for these coins if they were in better condition then Premium Hand Select ones.
Something like...Elite Hand Picked!

This is just my opinion!

The actual wordage is:

"The coins selected for this 6-coin set were carefully hand-picked and represent the very best in the entire collection. It also includes a 1912 $10 Premium Hand-Selected gold coin â€" available only in this set!"

To me, this statement bears some heavy weight.

Especially: "Represent the very best in the entire collection."

^^^ this is also copied from the mint website so I'm not sure what you disagree with darryldarryl. It says rarest of the rare so I would also think this carries some weight unless the mint has no policy against the misrepresentation of their products.

Hmm I had no idea these were final sale coins. Found out by reading the thread. Only way I was able to find reference to it otherwise was when I added a coin to my cart and saw the disclaimer there. The RCM Rep I talked to on the phone didn't mention it was a final sale. Fingers crossed it was a good idea to buy all three $5 coins!

It also states that this set contains a Premium Hand Selected 1912 $10 Gold coin which in turn means that all the others are Premium Hand Select coins.
140 of the 6 Coin set of Premium Hand Select Coins = Rarest of the Rare because of the Low number of sets being sold. I believe that those coins are no better than individual Premium Select coins being sold.
30,000 Coins for sale of which approximately 400 or 500 of them made the Premium Hand Selected list...you dont think these are rarest of the rare on the list?
The interpretation of the mints wording is subjective to whoever is reading it!
I stand by my opinion. The mint does not state anywhere that the 6 coin set coins are better than the individual Premium Hand Selected coins but rather includes them in the sets!

would not the premium pricing of the set tell you these coins must be a better grade.
Rest in Peace

(3x $1,750) + (3x $875) = $7,875
From $12,000 = $4,125 more than the coins individually.
Either it's a solid gold trimmed case, or these are even better than the 'premium hand selected' ones.
imho.

seems pretty obvious to me as well. Why would anyone pay the extra if they weren't the best quality.

Interesting. They are releasing 7% of the entire 1914 $5 mintage.

I wonder how would manage to collect such a large percentage, if they aren't mint state?
