Was at the bank today and they had 9 rolls of pennies. Pulled 1 Wheat cent, a 1958 Canadian and a 1991 un centesimo de balboa (Panama).

Picked up a bunch of pennies and nickels. Got some wicked penny finds (I'll post later when I have more time), plus my first roll of nickels was all 1960-1968, with the exception of 1939, 1941, 1955(2), 1999. Oh yeah and one skunker, a 2004. Stay tuned.

Went through 46 rolls of pennies. Older Canadian finds were: 1943, 1944, 1950(2), 1953, 1956(2), 1957, 1958, 1959. Found 3 wheat cents including a 1943 (first of these found in circulation). Will be dumping a few hundred 1964's and 67's because I've just pulled too many of them.

Do you need to be a member with a bank to return a box of rolls to them to get cash? I'm going to pick up a couple boxes (first time) on the weekend from my small bank and don't know if I can return "leftovers" to any bank after I go through them.

So here is the last of my cool finds from my last pickup. Of the pennies I got I found the following: 1921, 1939, 1940, 1941(2), 1942(5), 1943, 1944(2), 1945(3), 1946(2), 1947(3), 1948(2), 1949, 1950(4), 1951(6), 1952(5), 1953(4), 1955, 1957, 1958(2). Plus a bunch from the 60s and 70s. I'm guessing these fellows came from the same dump that included all those silver dimes (see find of a lifetime thread) and 12-sided nickels.

I hoped there would be quarters from the same dump so I picked up 40 rolls but unfortunately now silver, so I'm guessing that is all for that.

Nice finds nickelphr33k. It makes me wonder even more if the guy who brought in all the good pennies I picked up recently brought in any other denominations. I didn't think about it at the time but it hit me about a week later. Went back into the bank but my teller couldn't remember if he had brought in anything else and what it may have been. Didn't want to bother her further but it may just be worth it to follow up again...

@0-train: I would definitely say it would be worth a try. If you get skunked you still haven't lost any money. I plan on doing the same if ever a similar phenomenon (one can only hope) happens again.

Recently just started roll hunting, as samsnate got me hooked on coin collecting.
My first day of searching gave me 2 silver dimes ('62, '67), a few 60's nickels and some commemorative quarters. Since then, I haven't found anything significant in either nickels or dimes, but I did bring home $232 worth of rolled coins from my bank, and found a bunch of upgrades to my quarter collections. My most notable finds were a couple '73 RCMP quarters, Cindy Klassen with colour and two missing 1812 commemorative quarters.
Today I pick up my very first box of coins, and it's dimes! I've been thinking about it all night (I have to "order" the box out of the vault) and hope I find a bunch of '68 and older!

And it was a big ole bust. I found an *ok* condition '74 for my album, and a '69 in a similar state. Going to give my bank a couple weeks and attack some nickels next!

@Coalton: It pays to be patient. Silver is very rare, but with persistence you may get lucky. I just picked up a bag of nickels from the bank containing a 1951, 1952(6), 1953(10), and 1954(11).

So you need an account to return the change? I just came back from my bank with a box of pennies and a box of nickles. It's a small town bank so If I return the pennies, odds are they'd give me the same box again when I order another later on.

So far I went through one roll of pennies quickly, found a 1943 canadian, a 1943 and 1953 wheaty and a 2010 and 2011 US shield penny.

Yes being patient is key; just went through about 10 rolls of dimes and got nothing. Went through 12 rolls of nickels and pulled a 1940, 62, 63, 65, two 68's, 67, and 69. Waiting for my bank to call me on their inventory of boxed nickels.
