It is also one of my favorite designs, and yes, I did win it, a good deal below my maximum.
I am normally pretty patient waiting for the right coin at the right price, even more reserved when it comes to the bidding, but when something unique like this comes up I do my best to bring it home!

The recent Heritage sale of Doug Robins' Canadian token collection has piqued my interest in these pieces again. Here's a Habitant halfpenny that I've had for some time.

wow! very strong strike, possible proof (check out the detail on the beaver). pristine rims, and overall extremely fine detail, especially for a 1/2 if not for the hairlines - an easy 65, if not 66

The Robins sale included this 1857 halfpenny, PC-5D, graded SP64BN (Lot 29518). I notice some differences in the lettering between that piece and the second example which NGC has also graded. MS? SP? PF? Bronzed?

But both are Specimen tokens. I have already mentioned this subject, but the fact that PCGS and NGC use the designations Proof and Specimen to evaluate these tokens is confusing. It's a complicated subject, I talk about it in my book in writing. But in my opinion, in the case of this series of tokens, the designation Proof and Specimen means the same thing. However, I think that for NGC and PCGS, a Specimen strike usually means (But not always) is slightly inferior in quality to a Proof strike for this type of coins. For the rest, there are rare tokens of the 1/2 penny 1857 "Bronzed". This is probably not the case for the first token (Lot 29518). For the second token, difficult to say with the pictures I had in my possession, but it is quite possible that it is a "Bronzed" finish. NGC has certified this token «PR-65 BN».

Here are 2 other Proof tokens of the Half Penny 1857 from the same pair of dies as the coin you presented (Is it yours?). The first is an example with a Bronzed finish, while the second seems to have a regular finish.

The PC-5D 1/2P I posted was a uniform brown when I purchased it in 1990. I've always assumed it was bronzed.

I received this in change the other day, just wondering if it's worth anything or? Just kidding. All these Canadian tokens have inspired me to dig mine out. I was never a serious collector, but I did buy a handful through the years. Anyone here who can tell me why this one is not a Breton 715?

Looks like a Br715 to me. Very hard to make out which one though from your photos.

Bad photo, bad token, bad photographer, lousy camera.
Not a good combination. I'll see if I can get a better pic, thanks,

Here's detail of a City Bank One Penny token. Is this what is called the "V in the line" variety?
