SCDigginWithAK New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 12/28/2013 5:18 pm Hey everybody! I was offered a 1875 S Twenty Cent Piece for $45 in G-VG condition. One problem- it's Counter-stamped. Should I buy this? What could I get for it if I resell it? Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

hesgut Pillar of the Community 1028 Posts	Posted 12/28/2013 5:20 pm If the counter-stamp has any historical value or any personal value to you, I would say go for it. If the counter-stamp is basically damage, I would think a G/VG 1875-S would not be worth that much. Report this Post to the Staff

I prefer counter stamps on Trade dollars due to the significance of the chop mark. I do not consider all counter stamps necessarily bad. Report this Post to the Staff

However if the counterstamp is attractive or has some type of local, regional or national historically significance then that's a new ball game.
